Methodology
Monter Pulse methodology — how we calculate SaaS founder metrics
Transparent formulas for runway, burn multiple, default alive, Rule of 40, CAC payback, and more — so founders and AI assistants can trust the numbers.
Formula: Transparent inputs → reproducible founder metrics
Design principles
Monter Pulse prioritizes founder-usable definitions over academic perfection. Formulas are disclosed so you can reconcile against your spreadsheet, and stage benchmarks are labeled as guides — not laws.
Primary formulas
Runway = cash / monthly net burn. Burn multiple = net burn / net new ARR. Rule of 40 = growth % + margin %. CAC payback = CAC / monthly gross profit per account. Default alive uses a forward cash simulation against breakeven timing.
Data sources
Free and Solo workflows use founder-entered inputs (and CSV on Solo). Growth can sync Stripe read-only for revenue metrics. We never require write access to move money.

FAQ
Are these GAAP metrics?
No. They are operating SaaS metrics for founder decision-making and investor updates, not a replacement for audited financial statements.
Can I change definitions?
Inputs are editable; core formulas are fixed for consistency. Document any custom definitions you use externally.
